Clergy Corner: Time to Gather?

I mentioned in the Sunday announcements that we are going to look at a plan this week that will allow those who want to gather for Sunday worship to be able to do so. At the same time, we plan to continue using Facebook Live to make the service available to those who are not comfortable gathering until a time when our state and nation really get a solution to this pandemic and the danger has passed.

We will begin by finding out which of our members would like to physically attend the services ASAP. It may be a small enough number that a workable plan would be approved by the diocesan office.

As you know, St. Stephen’s church building is physically located in Pulaski county. Currently, Pulaski county has 20.3 active Covid cases per 10,000 people. That is above the Bishop’s guideline of a county where a church is located having less than 14 cases per 10,000 as the mark for being able to meet face-to-face.

However, Lonoke Co. and White Co. numbers are not as high as Pulaski Co. numbers. So we will put together statistics of where our members live, what the ratios are for those counties, the number of members who want to return to live worship now, and the county in which they live in order to develop a plan that the diocese might approve. It may take several days to get this accomplished.

Meanwhile stay safe and follow the guidelines. So far no member of our church family has contracted the virus …to my knowledge. Thank you Jesus!
