St. Stephen’s E-News – August 17, 2020

May grace and peace be yours in abundance! — Jim Dalton

Life is short and we do not have much time to gladden the hearts of those with whom we make this earthly pilgrimage. So, be swift to love, make haste to do kindness, and the blessings of God Almighty, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, be with you and remain with you always. Amen.

Altar Flowers for August 16, 2020 (Pictured Above)

The altar flowers for Sunday, August 16 were given to the glory of God by Jan Davenport in thanksgiving for her family and friends and especially for her St. Stephen’s family.

The altar flowers were arranged by flower guild member Pat Phillips.

Image of the Little Free Pantry

The Little Free Pantry is in place and someone from the community already stopped by and put some things in it. According to Laura, it was not someone from St. Stephen’s. How exciting is that!

Here is a list of items that can be dropped off at the church. If you do not have a key and want to drop something off, please get in touch with Jim Dalton or Pat Phillips and they will make arrangements for you to drop off pantry items.

Keep in mind that items like toilet paper, paper towels and other items that can be purchased in bulk need to be individual items for the pantry.

Here are some suggestions:
Food – Granola bars, Raisins, Dried Fruits, Nuts, Applesauce, Fruit Cups, Jelly, Peanut Butter, Mac and Cheese, Peanut Butter Crackers, Cheese Crackers, Rice, Oatmeal, Cereal, Canned Fruit, Tuna, Ravioli, Canned Soup, Beans, Pasta, Pasta Sauce

TOILETRIES – Shampoo, Soap, Toothpaste, Toothbrushes, Deodorant, Feminine Hygiene Products, Laundry Detergent, Dryer Sheets, Toilet Paper, Paper Towels, Diapers (Other Baby Products)

The picture above was sent in by Anita Williams. Her daughter, Denise, took the picture this past Wednesday at Sunset. It is a cross Denise made for her yard this past Easter season.

Jesus, what have you not suffered,
what have you not given for me?
I can never comprehend you,
but I can love you
and wonder
at the depth of the darkness
that you entered on the cross,
and the depth of the love that held you there.
–Angela Ashwin, Book of a Thousand Prayers
