Prayer for the week

Take my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to thee;
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

Take my will, and make it thine:
It shall be no longer mine,
Take my heart: it is thine own;
It shall be thy royal throne.

Take my love; my Lord, I pour
At thy feet its treasure-store.
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for thee.
Amen
Frances R. Havergal (1836-1879)

Some of you may remember hearing this prayer as a hymn. I remember singing it as a child. Consider using the prayer for the week daily in your prayer schedule. If you don’t have a daily prayer schedule, consider starting one. There is no better way, during this time of social distancing, to build up your spiritual relationship with God, than through daily prayer.

Little Free Pantry Project
Sandy Hays has contacted the city of Jacksonville regarding this project. They said that no permits are required. The only requirement is that the box sits more than 10.5 feet from the street.

The one pictured is not ours. It is just an example so you can see what the kind of project we approved at our annual church meeting. Quoting Sandy: “Burl and I will try to come to agreement (haha) on a design this week.”

Whoever comes out victorious in the design debate, the Hays have our full support! Thanks for moving us forward with this project.

Now, I could use some knowledge and gifts that someone in the church may have and wish to offer as Christian Action.

We need to try to get the community around the church building involved in this project. Someone from our church may:
1. Know how to get mailing addresses for people living within a mile of the church.

2. Be a convincing letter writer who could prepare the letter that we mail to the homes and businesses of the addresses of those living within a mile of the church.

If you feel led to take on either or both of these needs, let me know.

Virtual Dick Johnston’s Children’s Camp (DJCC)
I contacted Kristi Palmer, the coordinator for the DJCC to find out how we could help. Here is her response:

So glad to hear from you! Do you think your parishioners would be interested in writing encouraging letters to the kids who were supposed to come to Camp Mitchell this summer? . We are having online camp July 19-23, but it won’t be the same. ☹

We will have address lists available in the next week or so. There are 31 kids on the list, but you can just let me know how many letters your group wants to write. We are sending letters in July and then probably again during the school year if we have enough people who want to participate in writing the letters.

We are also starting an endowment fund for DJCC through Arkansas Community Foundation – concentrating our fundraising efforts this year toward the endowment (Donations may be sent to me, made out to St. Paul’s EC, with DJCC Endowment in memo line). Every donation helps, even if small!!

If someone prefers to support camp this year, we do have a wish-list of supplies for care packages we are sending at this link: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/15OCI3I8NT0WY?ref=cm_sw_em_r_wl_dp_FM5nOJUGMcCx6

Jim’s thoughts: If you wish to give to the endowment, please do so. What I would like for us to consider supporting as a church is the letter writing and book purchasing. I’ll be working with our DOK chapter to help with coordination this effort.
