A Blessing

May the warmth of Christ heal you,
the eyes of Christ gaze on you,
and the peace of Christ shine through you,
Today and evermore.

A “See Ya Later” to Karen Davis: by Carol Eden

Karen was a dear friend since February 1984 who was old enough to be my mom but I never thought of her as a second mom. She was a true friend. Karen and I traveled the country together for years. I could call her any time and ask if she wanted to go on a trip and she always replied “Sure. Where do you want to go?”

We traveled to Branson and the Smoky Mountains too many times to count. We traveled the east coast numerous times to visit her family or my friends. A couple of those times we visited with Bill Alford who used to be a member of St. Stephen’s. We traveled to New Mexico to see her son Marc and his family. We even traveled to CA to Clive Foy’s 90th birthday and to see her sister she hadn’t seen in a couple of decades. I will always have those treasured memories.

Karen opened her home to our family while we were building our house. That was when we had two teens! (She now qualifies for sainthood after that).

I love you and will miss you Karen but I know I will see you again one day. Fly high my angel.

A Big “Thank-you” to the All Saints DOK

St. Stephen’s All Saints Chapter of the Daughters of the King have stayed busy while being socially distanced! They have made us all feed loved with the hearts emailed to us at Easter and their personal notes mailed to church members.

It feels rather special to get “old fashioned” mail that’s not a catalog, a bill, or a sale promotion. A real honest to goodness letter. This small but passionate group not only commit themselves to prayers for all who need prayer. They are trying to keep our spirits boosted with their letter writing campaign.

Each week each DOK member takes 4 or 5 names from our church directory and writes a letter of encouragement. From all of us, Thank-you, All Saints DOK!

If you go by the church and look at the windows of the welcome center you will see a heart representing each family in our church. It is similar to the heart you received at Easter that had all church members’ names, but each one of these hearts represents a different church family. They will be there awaiting your arrival when we return to corporate worship.

Prayer for the Week: A Prayer for your household

O God, make the door of this house wide enough to receive all
who need human friendship,
but narrow enough to shut our all envy, pride, and malice.
Make its threshold smooth enough to be no stumbling-block to
children, nor to straying feet,
but strong enough to turn away the power of evil.
God make the door of this house a gateway to your eternal kingdom.
Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen
